  • Inequalities in Determinants of Health Among Aboriginal and Caucasian Persons Living With HIV/Aids in Ontario: Results From the Positive Spaces, Healthy Places Study

Open Access•Healthy Places Team Positive Spaces, LaVerne Monette et al.•ARTICLE•Canadian Journal of Public Health•2011•Cited by: 3•References: 13

  • Between skepticism and empowerment: The experiences of peer research assistants in HIV/Aids, housing and homelessness community‐based research

Saara Greene, Amrita Ahluwalia et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Social…•2009•Cited by: 15•References: 1

People living with HIV/AIDS (PHAs) in Canada are a highly researched population, yet their inclusion in the research process is minimal. Community‐based research (CBR) has become a recognized tool for addressing issues of power and exclusion within researcher/community relationships by inviting the community's equitable involvement as research partners. Within the context of HIV/AIDS research, this includes a commitment to the Greater Involvement…

  • Calculation of age at formation of radiopaque transverse lines

    Open Access•Steve Byers•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1991•Cited by: 10•References: 12

A simple method for determining the age of an individual at the time of radiopaque transverse (Harris) line formation is presented. To use this method, only two measurements are required: total bone length and distance of line to nearest bone end; these are put into formulae that calculate the percent of total bone growth when the line appeared. The result of this calculation is compared with tables of percent bone growth per year (one to 16 year…

  • Determination of adult stature from metatarsal length

Open Access•Steve Byers, Kaoru Akoshima et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1989•Cited by: 14•References: 9

The results of a study to determine the value of foot bones in reconstructing stature are presented. The data consist of length measurements taken on all ten metatarsals as well as on cadaver length from a sample of 130 adults of documented race, sex, stature, and, in most cases, age. Significant correlation coefficients (.58–.89) are shown between known stature and foot bone lengths. Simple and multiple regression equations computed from the len…
