  • The Northern and Southeastern Ojibwa: Serum proteins and red cell enzyme systems

    Open Access•E J E Szathmary, Diane Wilson Cox et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1974•Cited by: 6•References: 21

Two Ojibwa Indian populations in Ontario, selected to represent the Northern (Pikangikum Band) and Southeastern (Wikwemikong Band) branches of this “tribe” are compared for their serum protein and red cell enzyme systems. Albumin, haptoglobin, immunoglobins Gm and Inv, serum α‐globulin and transferrin polymorphisms are reported. The genetic markers Al Naskapi and Gc Chippewa are found in both groups, Tf D Chi in Pikangikum only. Contrary to expec…

  • The Seminole Indians of Florida: Morphology and serology

    Open Access•William S Pollitzer, Donald Rucknagel et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1970•Cited by: 21•References: 7

The Seminole Indians of Florida were studied on their three reservations for blood types, red cell enzymes, serum proteins, physical measurements, and relationships. Both serologic and morphologic factors suggest their close similarity to other Indians and small amount of admixture. The Florida Seminoles are similar to Cherokee “full‐bloods” in their absence of Rho and their incidence of O and M. In the presence of Di a they are similar to other …

  • Blood group investigations on the Carolinians and Chamorros of Saipan

    Open Access•Chris C Plato, Donald L Rucknagel et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1966•Cited by: 2•References: 11

A comparison of the frequencies of blood groups, haptoglobins, and hemoglobins of Chamorros and Carolinians of Saipan showed significant differences in the Rh, MNS, P, and Kidd systems. The differences were not of sufficient magnitude to exclude the possibility that the two groups were of the same ethnic origin. Thalassemia of the β variety was detected in two Chamorros, indicating the presence of this complex in Micronesians as well as in other …
