  • Early Eurasian migration traces in the Tarim Basin revealed by mtDNA polymorphisms

Open Access•Yinqiu Cui, Chunxiang Li et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•2010

The mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) polymorphisms of 58 samples from the Daheyan village located in the central Taklamakan Desert of the Tarim Basin were determined in this study. Among the 58 samples, 29 haplotypes belonging to 18 different haplogroups were analyzed. Almost all the mtDNAs belong to a subset of either the defined Western or Eastern Eurasian pool. Extensive Eastern Eurasian lineages exist in the Daheyan population in which Northern‐prev…

  • Ancient DNA analysis of human remains from the upper capital city of Kublai Khan

Open Access•Yuqin Fu, Chengzhi Xie et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•2009•Cited by: 1•References: 15

Analysis of DNA from human archaeological remains is a powerful tool for reconstructing ancient events in human history. To help understand the origin of the inhabitants of Kublai Khan's Upper Capital in Inner Mongolia, we analyzed mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) polymorphisms in 21 ancient individuals buried in the Zhenzishan cemetery of the Upper Capital. MtDNA coding and noncoding region polymorphisms identified in the ancient individuals were chara…

  • Molecular genetic analysis of remains from Lamadong cemetery, Liaoning, China

Open Access•Haijing Wang, Binwen Ge et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•2007•Cited by: 2•References: 29

The Xianbei existed as a remarkable nomadic tribe in northeastern China for three dynasties: the Han, Jin, and Northern‐Southern dynasties (206 BC to 581 AD) in Chinese history. A very important subtribe of the Xianbei is the Murong Xianbei. To investigate the genetic structure of the Murong Xianbei population and to address its genetic relationships with other nomadic tribes at a molecular level, we analyzed the control region sequences and codi…
