  • Interactive online tools for enhancing student learning experiences in remote sensing

Karen E Joyce, Bopelo Boitshwarelo et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Geography in Higher…•2014•Cited by: 1•References: 1

The rapid growth in Information and Communications Technologies usage in higher education has provided immense opportunities to foster effective student learning experiences in geography. In particular, remote sensing lends itself to the creative utilization of multimedia technologies. This paper presents a case study of a remote sensing computer aided learning (RSCAL) program, which was developed in Australia to facilitate student active engagem…

  • Critiquing environmental management in indigenous Australia

    Open Access•Jennifer Carter, Jennifer L Carter et al.•ARTICLE•Area•2007•Cited by: 4•References: 16

The notion of community participation in sustainable environmental management is well documented, but applications between environmental scientists and indigenous Australians are less known. Many indigenous Australians are socially and culturally marginalized, and agencies debate over appropriate designs for collaborative, cross‐cultural environmental programmes that will alleviate marginalization. This paper presents two case studies from northe…

  • Integrating Landsat and Land Systems for Cover Maps in Southern Inland Queensland

    Open Access•Greg Hill, Greg J E Hill et al.•ARTICLE•Australian Geographical Studies•1986•References: 3

Digital analysis of Landsat data is applied to up‐dating land cover maps for the Goondiwindi district of southern, inland Queensland. The imagery was paired with climax cover maps obtained from land systems reports with analysis conducted separately for each of three climax cover types (open forest, woodland and open woodland). Computer classification using this approach produced readily interpreted and reliable results. This work demonstrates th…
