  • Attitudes and Risk Perception Toward the Mountain Lion Bordering the Santa Cruz Mountains, California

    Stephen E S Crook•ARTICLE•Society and Animals•2019•References: 6

Growth in the human population and the popularity of outdoor recreation have resulted in increasing interaction between humans and mountain lions ( Puma concolor ). • Spatiotemporal Analysis

Open Access•Li An, Stephen Crook et al.•CHAPTER•International Encyclopedia of…•2017

This entry discusses the concepts and methods related to spatiotemporal analysis. From early civilizations to modern times, space and time have been the two fundamental domains under which humans have characterized events and phenomena of interest. The conceptualization of absolute versus relative space–time has exerted a major impact on so‐called spatiotemporal analysis, which seeks to understand “when” and “where” (and to some extent “why”) thi…

  • Space–Time Analysis

Li An, An Li et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of the Association of…•2015•Cited by: 5•References: 130

Throughout most of human history, events and phenomena of interest have been characterized using space and time as their major characteristic dimensions, in either absolute or relative conceptualizations. Space–time analysis seeks to understand when and where (and sometimes why) things occur. In the context of several of the most recent and substantial advances in individual movement data analysis (time geography in particular) and spatial panel …

  • Information Spread in a Region of Human–Mountain Lion Coexistence

    Stephen E S Crook•ARTICLE•Human Dimensions of Wildlife•2014

The media has a significant role in spreading information about human–wildlife conflict, yet it is not the only information source available. The extent to which the public receives information about conflict from various sources, especially in areas where it is occurring, has not been well established. A questionnaire survey and media content analysis are used to uncover how the public receives information about mountain lion (Puma concolor) iss…
