The socio-material negotiations of temporary sport stadia
This study examines the development of Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, a temporary modular venue constructed for the 2024 International Cricket Council Men's T20 World Cup in New York. Drawing on Actor-Network Theory and a Project Life Cycle framework, the study analyzes how institutions and power shaped the ways heterogeneous actors negotiated stadium development. Using primary and secondary sources, we trace how the roles of the In…

Teamwork makes the net-work
Purpose Athletic departments play an important role in sustainability-based collaborative processes due to their boundary spanning connections with both internal and external university stakeholders. As a result, athletic department representatives have become prominent members of university participant-governed network structures. The purpose of this study is to examine the role of dedicated “athletics green teams” as a unique form of control an…
The Emergence and Development of Netball in Jamaica, 1909–1941
Netball emerged in Jamaica in 1909 through a disjointed education system that was heavily influenced by British Crown Colony Rule. As such, the first avid netballers on the island were the tiny minority of young women who were afforded a high school education. It was not until the establishment of the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) in 1923 that netball began to develop beyond this exclusionary emergence. Specifically, behind a movemen…
The Requirement of Total Evidence
The requirement of total evidence is a mainstay of Bayesian epistemology. Peter Fisher Epstein argues that the requirement generates mistaken conclusions about several examples that he devises. Here we examine the example of Epstein’s that we find most interesting and argue that Epstein’s analysis of it is flawed

Models and Reality-A Review of Brian Skyrms's Evolution of the Social Contract
The Second Law of Probability Dynamics
When the probability of causes, and the probability of effects, given causes, are each randomly assigned, entropy ‘usually’ increases.
Is Entropy Relevant to the Asymmetry Between Retrodiction and Prediction
The idea that the changing entropy of a system is relevant to explaining why we know more about the system's past than about its future has been criticized on several fronts. This paper assesses the criticisms and clarifies the epistemology of the inference problem. It deploys a Markov process model to investigate the relationship between entropy and temporally asymmetric inference.
