Academic Senates and Faculty Collective Bargaining
This article reports on a survey of every unionized college and university in the nation. The research considered the impact of faculty collective bargaining on the traditional processes of academic governance, particularly faculty senates. There are several conclusions: (1) on the unionized campuses senates had little influence in the first place, (2) senates have had little success in converting themselves into collective bargaining agencies, (…
