  • Recent Vaccination Against Sars-CoV-2 Is Associated with Less Severe Disease in Working-Age Adults

Open Access•Kailey Fischer, Joanne M Langley et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2024

Staying current with COVID-19 vaccinations should continue to be recommended since receiving a recent immunization lessened the severity of illness. Also, as symptoms of COVID-19 are now largely similar to other respiratory viruses, practitioners need to use this evidence to inform diagnostic testing and return-to-work policies

  • Impact of non-pharmaceutical interventions and vaccination on Covid-19 outbreaks in Nunavut, Canada

Open Access•Thomas N Vilches, Elaheh Abdollahi et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2022

NPIs have been essential in mitigating pandemic outbreaks in this large, geographically distanced and remote territory. While vaccination has the greatest impact to prevent infection and severe outcomes, public health implementation of NPIs play an essential role in the short term before attaining high levels of immunity in the population

  • Implementation of a universal rotavirus vaccination program

Open Access•Mitchell Zelman, Carolyn Sanford et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2014

    NCT01273077

  • Pilot-testing an applied competency-based approach to health human resources planning

Open Access•Gail Tomblin Murphy, Adrian Mackenzie et al.•ARTICLE•Health Policy and Planning•2013•References: 13

A competency-based approach to health human resources (HHR) planning is one that explicitly considers the spectrum of knowledge, skills and judgement (competencies) required for the health workforce based on the health needs of the relevant population in some specific circumstances. Such an approach is of particular benefit to planners challenged to make optimal use of limited HHR as it allows them to move beyond simply estimating numbers of cert…

  • An Incremental Economic Evaluation of Targeted and Universal Influenza Vaccination in Pregnant Women

Open Access•Chris Skedgel, Joanne M Langley et al.•ARTICLE•Canadian Journal of Public Health•2011•References: 20

  • Developing Anti-Oppressive Empowering Social Work Practice with Older Lesbian Women and Gay Men

    J Langley, Joanne M Langley•ARTICLE•The British Journal of Social Work•2001•Cited by: 13

Available studies suggest that around 10 per cent of the population might self‐identify as a lesbian woman or gay man (Davies and Neal, 1996). It follows that social workers will engage with older people who are homosexual. It does not follow that they will know who they are, as this is a group often characterized by its invisibility. This paper reports the results of a small‐scale, exploratory study which examined how older lesbian women and gay…
