Áron Kibédi Vargas, Âron Kibédi Varga•ARTICLE•Littérature•2005•Cited by: 1

Painting Dreams Painters have tended to concentrate on exterior realities rather than interior musings; but the issue of historical painting, where of necessity a fixed image must evoke a story taking place in time, reminds us of the issue facing painters of dreams. Whether they represent the dreamer and his dream, the dream alone, or the dreamer alone, at issue is the choice of a still image to evoke a temporal series

  • Roman et savoir avant Cervantès

Áron Kibédi Vargas, Âron Kibédi Varga•ARTICLE•Littérature•2002

Novel and Knowledge before Cervantes Traditional narratives, whether epic narratives or romances, testify to a desire to control the passage of time. But closer examination, following Bakhtin, shows that Greek romances are already suffused by irony and by a lingering doubt that time can be vanquished - which is perhaps why Cervantes, criticising arthurian epic in Don Quichotte and imitating romances in Persiles, is a novelist

  • À la recherche du temps présent

Áron Kibédi Vargas, Âron Kibédi Varga•ARTICLE•Littérature•2001

  • Identification et distanciation en littérature. Réflexions sur l'art de Borges

Áron Kibédi Vargas, Âron Kibédi Varga•ARTICLE•Littérature•2000

Identification and Distance in Literature: Reflections on the Art of Borges. Story-telling is based on generating images. Identification gets the reader to co-operate in telling the story. To distance reader and story, various techniques can be used - none stronger than Borges's, who attacks the making of images through his tales, and vice-versa

  • Causer, conter. Stratégies du dialogue et du roman

    Âron Kibédi Varga•ARTICLE•Littérature•1994

Literature — a verbal representation of action as well as speech — blurs the distinction between action and speech or simplifies the pragmatics of conversation, as the minor genre of the dialogue, and the novel, show. The dialogue, an older genre, becomes increasingly ridden with narrative and taken over by the novel, whose attitudes towards conversation fall into three main categories

  • Le récit postmoderne

Áron Kibédi Vargas, Âron Kibédi Varga•ARTICLE•Littérature•1990•Cited by: 3

Postmodern is both a concept and a period in time. Dating from May 1968 in France, postmodernism rejects legitimising discourse and both formalist and marxist rationalism, undermining them through deconstruction. With the gradual discrediting of structuralist linguistics and a new interest in history, philosophy and biology, the postmodernist adopts a stance that is neither archaic nor modern but which exists in an historic context. Through « ren…
