  • Making the Randomized Response Technique Work

    M Zdep, S M Zdep et al.•ARTICLE•Public Opinion Quarterly•1976•Cited by: 9

The ability of the randomized response technique to obtain sensitive information on surveys was compared to two other methods involving self-administered questionnaires. • Commentary on Kerlinger's Structural Theory of Social Attitudes

    Open Access•S M Zdep, Gary L Marco•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1969

Kerlinger's structural theory of attitudes is analyzed, and some of the implications of the theory are examined. Initially, Kerlinger's use of the available data to extend the theory to the realm of social attitudes is questioned. His use of the same pool of items with different subject populations is especially criticized. Moreover, his rejection of attitude unidimensionality and bipolarity is shown to be an artifact of his operational definitio…

  • Recency Effects in Opinion Formation

    Open Access•S M Zdep, Stanley Zdep et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1968

160 undergraduates read excerpts from a jury trial in either a defense-prosecution or a prosecution-defense order. A significant recency effect appeared on both opinion ( p < .05) and retention ( p < .01) measures. An attempt to manipulate the order effect, by interpolating materials from another jury trial, either between the parts of the first trial or after the first trial and the opinion rating, proved unsuccessful, possibly because the inter…
