  • Breaking the Silence

Donna Kelley, Julie Cradock O’Leary et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Personality Assessment•2026

While case studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of Therapeutic Assessment (TA) with clients with unresolved trauma, the precise mechanisms of change remain untested. This study investigates predictions about how TA helps clients resolve trauma. The first part of the article details the TA for Mei, a woman with severe PTSD, C-PTSD and shame. The second part of the article includes a single-case time-series design experiment using Mei's dail…

Emanuela Brusadelli, Carlo Vetere et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Personality Assessment•2026

The COllaborative Scoring MethOd (COSMO) is a promising new coding system applicable on the Picture Frustration Study, rooted in the Interpersonal perspective and collaborative assessment framework. The COSMO system includes two levels of coding. First, it allows the coding of interpersonal styles based on four quadrants resulting from the combination of Agency and Communion variables. Second, COSMO assesses the severity of personality pathology.…

  • Therapeutic Assessment in a University Counseling Center

Filippo Aschieri, Francesca Fantini et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Personality Assessment•2024

In this study, we pilot tested Therapeutic Assessment (TA) in a university counseling center using a replicated single-case design to generate hypotheses on the effectiveness and applicability for this setting and population. We aimed to see whether TA could be an effective brief intervention to address students' presenting mental health concerns. Further, we explored whether different types of presenting concerns were associated with differentia…

  • Effects of Covid-19 Emergency and Associated Lockdown Policies on the Normative Expectations for the Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI) and the Rorschach Performance Assessment System (R-PAS)

Filippo Aschieri, Giulia Pascarella et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Personality Assessment•2024

Standardized personality tests compare the test taker’s scores to those of a large sample of individuals representing normative expectations. However, what is psychologically normal in one historical context may not be similarly normal in another, so the recent spread of a new coronavirus, SARS-Cov-2 (COVID-19), may have implications for what should normally be expected of a nonclinical person taking a personality test shortly after this dramatic…

  • Self-curiosity

Filippo Aschieri, Ilaria Durosini et al.•ARTICLE•Self and Identity•2018

This article frames self-curiosity – the curiosity that people have about their inner world – within the overarching construct of curiosity and describes its psychological correlates identified in the empirical literature. The construct of self-curiosity is defined as one’s tendency and interest in exploring their inner functioning. It can be assessed through self-report on the Self-Curiosity Attitude-Interest Scale (SCAI), which comprises two po…

  • Epistemological and Ethical Challenges in Standardized Testing and Collaborative Assessment

    Open Access•Filippo Aschieri•ARTICLE•Journal of Humanistic Psychology•2011•Cited by: 5•References: 27

In this article, the author proposes that although treating clients humanistically may appear to be in conflict with the goal of objectivity in clinical assessment, they are not incompatible; and, indeed, as it is shown, the clinical psychologist has a responsibility to hold both goals in mind in order to achieve the most useful and accurate evaluations. Psychological assessment does not have to aim to remain exclusively in the realm of the “hard…
