Evaluation of Benzo[a]pyrene in Food from China by High-Performance Liquid Chromatography-Fluorescence Detection
The occurrence and levels of benzo[a]pyrene in various heat-treated foods from China were evaluated by high-performance liquid chromatography-fluorescence detection. In a total of 119 samples, 105 were found to contain benzo[a]pyrene at levels of 0.03 to 19.75 μg/kg. The benzo[a]pyrene contents in 12 animal source foods were higher than the Chinese maximum permissible level in food (5 μg/kg) and the highest level was 19.75 μg/kg, nearly four time…
Cancer mortality in a Chinese population surrounding a multi-metal sulphide mine in Guangdong province
The findings of this study reveal probable associations between long-term environmental exposure to both cadmium and lead and an increased risk of mortality from all cancer, as well as from stomach, esophageal and lung-cancers
Prevalence and factors related to syringe sharing behaviours among female injecting drug users who are also sex workers in China
Which preventive measures might protect health care workers from Sars
Some measures, particularly good air ventilation in SARS wards, may be effective in minimizing or preventing SARS transmission among HCWs in hospitals
Behavioural development of school-aged children who live around a multi-metal sulphide mine in Guangdong province, China
This study reveals that heavy metal exposure was associated with increased risk of behavioral problems for school-aged children
Physical activity, diet and cardiovascular disease risks in Chinese women
Objective: To investigate the relationship between different types and levels of physical activity and cardiovascular disease risk factors, including oxidative stress, blood lipids and insulin resistance, in a healthy female population in China. Method: Healthy women ( n = 761) aged 35 to 65 years participated in this study. The habitual physical activity was evaluated by self-administered questionnaire (MOSPA). The dietary intakes of nutrients w…
