  • Sex-specific associations between birthweight and objectively measured energy intake in healthy indigenous American adults

    Open Access•Nicolas Guerithault, Emma J Stinson et al.•ARTICLE•Appetite•2024•References: 40

  • An Entangled Relationship between Bullying Perception and Psychosocial Dimensions in a Sample of Young Adolescents

Open Access•Francesca Mastorci, Maria Francesca Lodovica Lazzeri et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2023

Background: Bullying is a hostile behavior repeated over a time period, affecting children and adolescents in different social settings, mainly small and stable ones like school, with negative effects on mental and physical health. In this study, we aimed to provide the degree of impairment of different variables related to health and well-being in bullying conditions, with attention to sex differences. • The Impact of Unhealthy Behaviors on Personalized Well-Being Index in a Sample of School Dropout Adolescents

Open Access•Maria Francesca Lodovica Lazzeri, Francesca Mastorci et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2022

    (1) Background: here is a growing need for integrated and multidimensional approaches to health, especially in a particular category of populations, school-dropout (SD) adolescents, who are traditionally more prone to risky behavior. This study aimed to describe the association between possible risk factors (substance use, eating disorders, social addiction) and well-being perception through the application of a personalized well-being index (PWB…

  • Gender Differences for Health Indicators in a Sample of School Dropout Adolescents

Open Access•Francesca Mastorci, Maria Francesca Lodovica Lazzeri et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Background : The ever-increasing prevalence of school dropout (SD) highlights the need to gain insight into risk factors for dropout causes and consequences. The aim of this study was to evaluate the gender differences for health indicators in a sample of school dropout adolescents. Methods : Data were collected regarding 450 adolescent's SD (19 ± 2 years; 308 males), and health-related quality-of-life (HRQoL) and risk behaviors were assessed by …

  • Relationship between Weight Status and Health-Related Quality of Life in a Sample of Early Adolescents from Central and Northern Italy

Open Access•Francesca Mastorci, Paolo Piaggi et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

Among the various factors that could influence health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in adolescence, body mass index (BMI) seems to play a key role as a main anthropometric parameter. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to determine, in a sample of Italian adolescents, whether HRQoL is associated with the different weight status categories (underweight, normal weight, overweight, obese), according to BMI cut-off points for children, even c…

  • Reduced adaptive thermogenesis during acute protein-imbalanced overfeeding is a metabolic hallmark of the human thrifty phenotype

Open Access•Tim Hollstein, Cristina Bosisio et al.•ARTICLE•2021•References: 48

During acute overfeeding conditions with low/high-protein content, thrifty participants have limited capacity to increase 24EE, indicating that impaired adaptive thermogenesis during protein-imbalanced diets further characterizes the thrifty phenotype and its susceptibility to weight gain. This trial was registered at clinicalTrials.gov as NCT00523627.

  • Increased 24-hour ad libitum food intake is associated with lower plasma irisin concentrations the following morning in adult humans

Open Access•Mathias Schlögl, Paolo Piaggi et al.•ARTICLE•Appetite•2015•References: 49
