Open Access•Susan Darroudi, Sara Saffar Soflaei et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2025

Findings showed that rural men's diets are characterized by higher consumption of grains and fats, while urbanization is linked to increased dairy consumption in women. Additionally, the study highlights a worrying lack of fruit consumption in suburban areas. These findings underscore the necessity of implementing specific nutritional policies to promote dietary diversity in various residential areas

Open Access•Debbie Hatfield, Kay Aranda et al.•ARTICLE•Health Expectations•2023

OBJECTIVE: To understand how materiality affects patient and public involvement (PPI) for commissioning and leading health and care services in the English National Health Service (NHS) context. CONTEXT: From April 2013 groups of general practitioners (GPs) became members of NHS clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) to assess needs and procure core health services for and with local communities. Open Access•Abbas Ali Sangouni, Azam Ahmadi Vasmehjani et al.•ARTICLE•BioPsychoSocial Medicine•2022

BACKGROUND: There is increasing evidence that the dietary intake of phytochemicals is inversely associated with severity of depression and positively associated with quality of life (QoL). The present study investigated the relationship between dietary phytochemical index (DPI) with depression and QoL scores in Iranian adolescent girls. METHODS: A total of 733 adolescent girls from Mashhad and Sabzevar cities in northeastern Iran were entered int…

  • Association between dietary behaviors and depression in adolescent girls

Open Access•Abbas Ali Sangouni, Sara Beigrezaei et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2022

  • Evaluation of the knowledge regarding vitamin D, and sunscreen use of female adolescents in Iran

Open Access•Afsane Bahrami, Zahra Farjami et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2021

There appears to be a lack of coherence between lifestyle, behavior and knowledge that may affect the Vit D status of adolescent girls in northeastern Iran. This information provides a basis for developing public health planning (workshops or training at the college level) for the prevention of Vit D deficiency especially in adolescent girls

Design: A cross-sectional population-based study. Setting: Primary schools in two different cities located in northeastern Iran (Mashhad and Sabzevar). Participants: A total of 988 adolescent girls aged 12–18 years were included in the study. Results: Subjects with no or minimal depres…

  • Comparison of Support Vector Machine, Naïve Bayes and Logistic Regression for Assessing the Necessity for Coronary Angiography

    Open Access•Parastoo Golpour, Majid Ghayour-Mobarhan et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020

    (1) Background: Coronary angiography is considered to be the most reliable method for the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease. However, angiography is an invasive procedure that carries a risk of complications; hence, it would be preferable for an appropriate method to be applied to determine the necessity for angiography. The objective of this study was to compare support vector machine, naïve Bayes and logistic regressions to determine the diag…

  • A high consumption of tomato and lycopene is associated with a lower risk of cancer mortality

Open Access•Mohsen Mazidi, Gordon A Ferns et al.•ARTICLE•Public Health Nutrition•2020

Objective: We investigated the association between the consumption of tomato and lycopene and cancer mortality among US adults. Design: Prospective. • Passive smoking is associated with cognitive and emotional impairment in adolescent girls

Zahra Khorasanchi, Afsane Bahrami et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of General Psychology•2019

It is well established that smoking is associated with impaired mental health and sleep problems. However, the possible effects of passive smoking on cognitive and emotional characteristics have not previously been evaluated in adolescents. We investigated the association between passive smoking and cognitive and emotional function, and sleep patterns in 940 adolescent girls. The girls were divided into two groups [305 exposed subjects and 635 no…

  • Metabolic syndrome components as markers to prognosticate the risk of developing chronic kidney disease

Davoud Zomorrodian, Abolfazl Khajavi-Rad et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Epidemiology and…•2015•References: 18

OBJECTIVE: The global prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) appears to be increasing and the impact of this condition on potential comorbidities such as cardiovascular disease is high. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is also a potential comorbidity of MetS but the method of screening for this is somewhat controversial. Thus, predictive markers that can predict the risk of developing CKD are warranted for identification of patients with MetS at an …
