Human papillomavirus self‐testing among unscreened and under‐screened Māori, Pasifika and Asian women in Aotearoa New Zealand
INTRODUCTION: Māori, Pasifika and Asian women are less likely to attend cervical screening and Māori and Pasifika women are more likely to be diagnosed with later-stage cervical cancer than other women in Aotearoa New Zealand. This study-with under-screened women taking part in a randomized-controlled trial comparing self-testing and standard screening-explored the acceptability of a human papillomavirus (HPV) self-test kit and the preferred meth…

2026 Objectives Evaluate the traditional delivery methods of nuclear medicine education at an approved academic center. Highlight key themes, utilizing qualitative feedback from clinical stakeholders, leading to the identification of emerging learning and assessments paradigms. Evaluation of a current cohort of postgraduate students will inform the value of such developments. Methods Traditional educational methods were evaluated using an on-line…
Multiple Gene-Environment Interactions on the Angiogenesis Gene-Pathway Impact Rectal Cancer Risk and Survival
Characterization of gene-environment interactions (GEIs) in cancer is limited. We aimed at identifying GEIs in rectal cancer focusing on a relevant biologic process involving the angiogenesis pathway and relevant environmental exposures: cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption, and animal protein intake. We analyzed data from 747 rectal cancer cases and 956 controls from the Diet, Activity and Lifestyle as a Risk Factor for Rectal Cancer study. We…

Hormonal replacement therapy and morbidity and mortality in a prospective study of postmenopausal women
We assessed the association of hormonal replacement therapy with mortality and incidence of multiple diseases in over 40,000 postmenopausal women followed for 6 years as part of the Iowa Women's Health Study. Compared with women who never used hormone replacement therapy, current users had multivariate adjusted relative risks (RR) as follows: total mortality (RR = 0.78; 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.65, 0.94), coronary heart disease mortality …
Is early natural menopause a biologic marker of health and aging
The relation between age at natural menopause and all-cause mortality was investigated in a sample of 5,287 White women, ages 55 to 100 years, naturally-postmenopausal, Seventh-day Adventists who had completed mailed questionnaires in 1976. The age-adjusted odds ratio of death during 1976-82 in women with natural menopause before age 40 was 1.95 (95% confidence interval = 1.24, 3.07), compared to the reference group of women reporting natural men…
