Replacing carbohydrate for added protein at breakfast increases fat oxidation at rest and during exercise whilst reducing appetite and energy intake
Post-exercise skimmed milk, but not a sucrose beverage decreases energy intake at the next meal compared to a placebo beverage in active males
This study compared the appetite and energy intake effects of three post-exercise beverages at a subsequent post-exercise meal. On three occasions, ten active males: (mean ± sd) age 21.3 ± 1.2 y, V ̇ O2peak 58 ± 5 mL/kg/min) performed 30-min cycling at ∼60% V ̇ O2peak and five 4-min intervals at 85% V ̇ O2peak. Post-exercise, placebo (PLA: 57 kJ), skimmed milk (MILK: 1002 kJ) or sucrose (CHO: 1000 kJ) beverages (615 mL) were consumed. Sixty min p…
Effects of Morning Vs. Evening exercise on appetite, energy intake, performance and metabolism, in lean males and females
Exercise is an important component of a weight management strategy. However, little is known about whether circadian variations in physiological and behavioural processes can influence the appetite and energy balance responses to exercise performed at different times of the day. This study compared the effects of morning and evening exercise on appetite, post-exercise energy intake, and voluntary performance. In randomised, counterbalanced order,…
Effect of the perception of breakfast consumption on appetite and energy intake in healthy males
The acute effects of morning and evening fasting on energy intake, appetite and glycaemic control in young, healthy males
An acute bout of swimming increases post-exercise energy intake in young healthy men and women
Anticipation of 24 h severe energy restriction increases energy intake and reduces physical activity energy expenditure in the prior 24 h, in healthy males
Effect of severe energy restriction on appetite, energy intake and metabolism
Effect of 24-H severe energy restriction on appetite regulation and ad-libitum energy intake in overweight and obese males
Effect of breakfast omission on subjective appetite, metabolism, acylated ghrelin and active GLP-1
The effect of post-exercise drink macronutrient content on appetite and energy intake
The effect of post-exercise drink macronutrient content on appetite and energy intake
