Large AI Models Have a Prioritization Problem: Policy Implications and Solutions
Artificial intelligence (AI) models trained on large corpora must prioritize some information over others. Distilling vast data into simple user-friendly representations can lead to a prioritization problem , in which large AI models neglect crucial information in their outputs. This prioritization problem manifests for newsfeed-ranking algorithms and generative AI such as large language models (LLMs). This paper discusses two flavors of this pro…
How does AI literacy influence users’ perceived trust? A chain mediation model from triangular theory of love
Route network simplification for transport planning
Route network datasets are fundamental to transport models, serving as both inputs for analysis and outputs for visualization and decision-making. The increasing complexity of route network data from sources like OpenStreetMap allows for more detailed modelling of sustainable transport modes such as walking and cycling. However, this level of detail can introduce challenges for the clear visualization and interpretation of model results. A common…

Advancing unpaved road assessment in Africa: Leveraging multimodal machine learning and large language-and-vision assistants across satellite imagery resolutions
Corenet: A flexible framework for generating and prioritising core cycle network designs
Mode shift to cycling is a policy objective in many countries. However, cycling infrastructure designs often fail to produce the joined-up, direct, and safe networks needed for trips to switch. Planned interventions rarely align with demand, creating disjointed networks and ineffective investment. This paper introduces a new ‘corenet’ method for developing core cycling networks that provides complete and connected infrastructure designs for place…
HHG-Bot: A Hyperheterogeneous Graph-Based Twitter Bot Detection Model
Detecting Twitter bots is essential for combating misinformation and maintaining the integrity of online social networks. Existing methods often overlook the high-order interactions and heterogeneous relationships among users and tweets, limiting their effectiveness in addressing sophisticated bot behaviors. This article introduces HHG-Bot, a novel hyper-heterogeneous graph-based framework for Twitter bot detection. The proposed approach integrat…

Evidence based prevalence of diabetes related depression in Kohat, Pakistan: A cross-sectional study
The overall results showed that more than half of the total diabetic population was facing mild to severe depression. Based on our results, we suggest including a psychological and mental health investigation during the evaluation of diabetes in the patients. The study might help healthcare workers assess the psychological complications of diabetic patients

Unveiling patterns and drivers of long-term rural settlement changes from the urban-rural gradient perspective: A case study of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region in China
The inclusiveness of China’s development finance: China’s hybrid approach to aid and poverty reduction in Africa
Recent years have seen China emerging as a new donor outside of the West’s club of traditional donors, seeking to fill the financing gap for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Chinese government has adopted a hybrid approach to international aid, in which it supplies trade credit and other types of loans to underdeveloped countries through its policy banks and state-owned enterprises in addition to traditional aid. As such a hybrid app…

Application of Serious Games in Health Care: Scoping Review and Bibliometric Analysis
Background Serious games (SGs) as one kind of intervention that can improve the level of knowledge and change behavior to affect health outcomes has been increasingly applied in health care. Objective Analyze hotspots and trends of the application of SGs in health care and provide reference and direction for further research in the future. Methods The Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection database was used for extracting the literature on SGs in h…
Application of Discrete Choice Experiment in Health Care: A Bibliometric Analysis
Background: Discrete choice experiment (DCE) as a tool that can measure medical stakeholders' preferences especially patients recently has been increasingly applied in health care. Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the hotspots and trends of the application of DCE in health care and to provide reference and direction for further development of DCE in the future. Method: A bibliometric method was implemented using the Web of Science …
Risk Factors for Anxiety and Depressive Symptoms in Doctors During the Coronavirus Disease 2019 Pandemic
Background: The purpose of our study was to investigate the prevalence of anxiety and depressive symptoms and their risk factors among doctors during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Methods: A hospital-based survey study was conducted. Anxiety symptoms were assessed using the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), and depressive symptoms were assessed using the Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS). Multivariable logistic regression was …
Factor allocation structure and green-biased technological progress in Chinese agriculture
In this paper, a nonparametric method is used to measure the total factor productivity (TFP) growth index in Chinese agriculture from 1981 to 2017, and the factor bias of technological progress is identified based on the theory of induced technological progress. Then, according to the degree of dependence of technological progress on fertiliser, biased technological progress is divided into green-biased technological progress and pollution-biased…
Agricultural trade shocks and carbon leakage: Evidence from China's trade shocks to the Belt & Road economies
A study of China’s inter-city networks for innovation cooperation within software and service firms
In the last couple of decades, China’s software and services industry has emerged as the driving power of economic growth playing a significant role in leading innovation in China. Research on inter-city network structure, drawing on patent cooperation among cities, helps understand the positioning of cities in terms of software and service-related innovation. This helps guide urban- or regional-development strategy. In this paper, we investigate…
Environmental Regulation, Foreign Direct Investment and Green Technological Progress—Evidence from Chinese Manufacturing Industries
This study examines the spillover effects of foreign direct investment (FDI) on green technology progress rate (as measured by the green total factor productivity). The analysis utilizes two measures of FDI, labor-based FDI and capital-based FDI, and separately investigates four sets of industry classifications-high/low discharge regulation and high/low emission standard regulation. The results indicate that in the low discharge regulation and lo…
The expansion of 8-year medical training programs in China: A status report
Instituted in major medical programs only within the past decade, the advent of an 'expanded' 8-year medical curriculum reflects a major reformation of how physicians are trained in China. Although much remains to be done, including the refinement of associated learning objectives, instructional models, and teaching pedagogies, movement toward a longer, more standardized training framework represents a marked transition for Chinese medical practi…
