  • Sars-CoV-2 Infection in San Patrignano, the Largest European Drug Rehabilitation Community

Open Access•Isabella Sala, Carlotta Micaela Jarach et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2023

The peculiar characteristics of SP residents or the SP environment might at least partially explain the null hospitalization rates. Despite the extreme uniqueness of our population and despite the protected environment and all precautions that were taken, the fact that the virus was able to circulate and infect a large portion of the population highlights the fundamental role of social interactions in the spread of the disease

  • Alcohol consumption and site-specific cancer risk

Open Access•Vincenzo Bagnardi, Matteo Rota et al.•ARTICLE•British Journal of Cancer•2015

BACKGROUND: Alcohol is a risk factor for cancer of the oral cavity, pharynx, oesophagus, colorectum, liver, larynx and female breast, whereas its impact on other cancers remains controversial. METHODS: We investigated the effect of alcohol on 23 cancer types through a meta-analytic approach. We used dose-response meta-regression models and investigated potential sources of heterogeneity. RESULTS: A total of 572 studies, including 486 538 cancer c…

  • Evaluation of How Gene-Job Strain Interaction Affects Blood Pressure in the Pamela Study

Cristina Menni, Vincenzo Bagnardi et al.•ARTICLE•Psychosomatic Medicine•2011

Objective: To see whether there is interaction between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) belonging to candidate genes for hypertension and job strain and its components (job demand and job control) in an accurately phenotyped Italian cohort (Pressioni Arteriose Monitorate E Loro Associazioni). Methods: From the Pressioni Arteriose Monitorate E Loro Associazioni cohort, we sampled 924 employed men and women who had completed a modified versio…

  • Capture-recapture methods to size alcohol related problems in a population

Giovanni Corrao, Giulia Corrao et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Epidemiology and…•2000•Cited by: 3•References: 28

STUDY OBJECTIVE: To investigate the utility of capture-recapture methods to estimate prevalence of subjects with alcohol related disorders using multiple incomplete lists. DESIGN: This was a cross sectional study of alcohol related disorders in a large community. SETTING: During 1997 identified cases with known alcohol related disorders were independently flagged by four sources (self help volunteering groups; psychiatric ambulatory; public alcoh…
