Radiocarbon based fossil fuel CO 2 observations in megacity Delhi
This study employs radiocarbon measurements (Δ 14 C) to detect fossil fuel CO 2 (CO 2ff ) in the megacity Delhi from 2018 to 2022, offering unique insights into fossil fuel emissions. Our measurements reveal varying Δ 14 C values ranging from −56.2‰ to 7.5‰ and CO 2ff values ranging from 0.3 ppm to 25.2 ppm. We observed a distinct seasonality in Δ 14 C and CO 2ff , with higher CO 2ff (lower Δ 14 C) values during winter and post-monsoon seasons an…
Spatial Distribution of Fossil Fuel Co 2 in Megacity Delhi Determined Using Radiocarbon Measurements in Peepal ( Ficus Religiosa ) Tree Leaves
The quantification of fossil-fuel derived carbon dioxide (CO 2ff ) emissions is critical for regional carbon budgets. Radiocarbon ( 14 C) is an effective tool to estimate the contribution of CO 2ff to the total atmospheric CO 2 . In the present study, we have determined the spatial distribution of fossil fuel derived CO 2 across Delhi using 14 C measurements in Peepal tree leaves from April 2016 to March 2017 at city scale. Our analysis results s…
Inter-University Accelerator Centre, New Delhi (Iuacd) Radiocarbon Date List Ii
Accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) activities at the Inter-University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) in New Delhi, India, started with its 15UD Pelletron accelerator and cosmogenic radionuclide (CRN) measurements of 10 Be and 26 Al. Realizing the demand of a radiocarbon ( 14 C) AMS facility in India, a 500kV Pelletron accelerator based AMS system was installed in 2015. This facility was designated with the lab code IUACD for 14 C measurements. 14 C d…
Inter-University Accelerator Centre, New Delhi (Iuacd) Radiocarbon Date List I
A new facility for radiocarbon dating by accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) was established in early 2015 at the Inter-University Accelerator Centre in New Delhi, India. The facility uses a 500 kV National Electrostatic Corporation (NEC) Pelletron accelerator for AMS measurements on graphite produced using the automated graphitization equipment (AGE) interfaced with an elemental analyzer and the carbonate handling system (CHS). A precision of be…
