The Twentieth Century Reanalysis Project
The Twentieth Century Reanalysis (20CR) project is an international effort to produce a comprehensive global atmospheric circulation dataset spanning the twentieth century, assimilating only surface pressure reports and using observed monthly sea‐surface temperature and sea‐ice distributions as boundary conditions. This chapter presents a case study on the historical presents of two of the most frequently occurring verbs in the Histories , αρω and λαμνω 'capturing (by military force)'. It examines the semantic distinction between αρω and λαμνω and, in order to understand the character of the historical present, it discusses a number of passages in which both a historical present and an aorist of either verb occurs. Geochemistry and Organic Contaminants in the Sediments of Great Slave Lake, Northwest Territories, Canada
A study was carried out in the summer of 1987 to determine the geochemistry and distribution of trace elements, PCBs and 16 other chlorinated hydrocarbons in sediments from selected areas in Great Slave Lake, Northwest Territories, Canada. Sediment cores were collected at three sampling stations in the west basin of the lake on a transect from the Slave River delta to the outlet of the Mackenzie River.
