이 연구는 인류사에서 세계 최초 문명인 메소포타미아문명이 탄생했던 배경과 ‘우룩 팽 창’ 현상이라고 불리는 서아시아의 초기 문명 발전 과정을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 초기 문명이 발생했던 남부 메소포타미아지역은 레반트를 비롯한 이른바 ‘비옥한 초승달’ 지역에서 비해 농경 발전이 뒤늦은 지역이었지만, 사냥-채집 활동에 유리한 생태 환경으로 문명단계에 도달하기 이전부터 대규모 취락이 형성되었던 지역이었다. 그러나 기원적 3500 년, 즉 후기 우룩 시대부터 시작된 건조화로 인해 남부 메소포타미아지역에 거주하던 복합 사냥-채집사회는 생태적 위기를 맞이하게 되고 이를 극복하고자 사회적-생태적 ‘적응 유 연성’을 높이는 과정에서 관개 농업이 발전하게 되었고 궁극적으로 도시와 국가가 출현하 게 되었다. 따라서 관개 농업은 문명의 전제 조건이 아니라 결과일 뿐이며, 그런 측면에서 관개 농업이 초기 문명…
Techno-functional approach to bifaces
A significant number of bifaces were found from Jeongok-ri Site 85-12, which was excavated from 2021 to 2022. Existing research methodology on bifaced stone tools tends to evaluate stone tool culture by quantifying and measuring the morphological characteristics of the artifacts, such as symmetry, regularity, and sophistication.
