Methods for quantifying the cooling effect of urban green spaces using remote sensing
Three methods for quantifying the cooling effect of urban green spaces were verified. • The application of the buffer averaging method is subject to high uncertainty. • The accuracy of the results of the visual interpretation method is guaranteed. • The basin analogy method can be used in certain situations. • Standardization of the calculation methods is imperative. The cooling effect of urban green space (UGS) and its influencing factors have b…
The Development and Validation of a Career Aspirations Questionnaire for High School Students and Its Impact on Academic Performance
Career aspirations of high school students is a significant motivational force for learning engagement. However, validated methods for probing their career aspirations remain unestablished. Study 1 used 1455 high school students to develop a career aspirations questionnaire (CAQ). The CAQ was developed through item generation, pretesting, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, and a series of validation procedures. The CAQ comprises four d…
Spatial variability of local ventilation performance in idealized urban areas under wind-buoyancy interactions
Empowering leadership and team improvisation
This study explains the mechanisms that facilitate team improvisation via AMO theory, thereby enriching the theoretical perspectives within the field of team improvisation research. Considering the influence of cultural differences between East and West on employee behavior, as well as the characteristics of improvisational behavior, this study introduces the widely observed culture of social context error aversion culture in Chinese organization…
Does Urban Polycentric Structure Improve Carbon Emission Efficiency? A Spatial Panel Data Analysis of 279 Cities in China from 2012 to 2020
Urban spatial structure, shaped by human intervention in the natural environment, impacts the functional space and socioeconomic efficiency of cities. Against this backdrop, this study investigates the linkage between urban spatial structure (USS) and carbon emission efficiency (CEE) in China from 2012 to 2020. This paper employs a nine-year dataset and spatial econometric models involving 279 prefectural cities in China. The study innovatively e…

Bibliometric Analysis Reveals the Progress of PM2.5 in Health Research, Especially in Cancer Research
PM 2.5 has an aerodynamic diameter of less than or equal to 2.5 microns due to its inherent physical and chemical properties so that it can enter the alveoli through the respiratory tract for blood gas exchange. Numerous studies have shown that PM 2.5 is a serious air pollutant that poses a wide range of health risks, especially for cancer. Bibliometric methods were employed to have comprehensively analyzed the research of PM 2.5 in cancer for ab…
Enhancing Chlorobenzene Biodegradation by Delftia tsuruhatensis Using a Water-Silicone Oil Biphasic System
In this study, a water-silicone oil biphasic system was developed to enhance the biodegradation of monochlorobenzene (CB) by Delftia tsuruhatensis LW26. Compared to the single phase, the biphasic system with a suitable silicone oil fraction ( v / v ) of 20% allowed a 2.5-fold increase in the maximum tolerated CB concentration. The CB inhibition on D. tsuruhatensis LW26 was reduced in the presence of silicone oil, and the electron transport system…
