Vocabulary acquisition from teacher explanation and repeated listening to stories
The authors evaluated the effect of listening to stories on children's vocabulary growth. Forty-seven children listened to 2 stories read to them in a small-group setting on 3 occasions, each 1 week apart. Headings Within Multiple‐choice Tests as Facilitators of Test Performance
S ummary . Undergraduate students (N = 287) taking a multiple‐choice test were either provided with headings during the test or completed the test without headings. Students were also tested for field‐independence and later completed a questionnaire concerning their beliefs about the effects of headings in tests. Ranking of Crime Seriousness in Papua New Guinea
Subjects, 46 male and 41 female Papua New Guineans who resided in Port Moresby and its suburbs, ranked 19 crimes according to relative seriousness. These ranks were compared with a ranking of the same crimes according to the penalties prescribed by the Papua New Guinean legal system and with data previously obtained from rural subjects.
