Social and behavioural factors associated with HIV seroconversion in homosexual men attending a central London STD clinic
An unmatched retrospective case control study was conducted to test the feasibility of investigating social and behavioural factors which may have contributed to recent HIV seroconversion in a group of homosexual men. Discrimination Learning in the Pigeon With Two Relevant Cues, One Hard and One Easy
Pigeons were trained on a colour/shape discrimination. Colour was shown to be the operative cue. No learning of shape was demonstrated after 500 overtraining trials, whereas the shape cue alone was learned in fewer trials than this. Learning of the ‘hard’ shape cue was thus suppressed by the presence of the ‘easy’ colour cue. It was not eliminated, however, for the shape cue was learned after 1000 overtraining trials
Pen‐field Behaviour in Rats
The effects of pre‐weaning handling, sex and repeated testing on the open‐field behaviour of rats were consistent with existing reports and with the interpretation of the defecation and ambulation measures as inversely related indices of emotionality. Rats were placed in an experimental chamber for 30 min. on two successive days. On day 1 they experienced either continuous steady light or continuous flickering light. On day 2 the box was dark, with either steady light or flicker contingent upon a bar press.
