Latent classes in the developmental trajectories of infant handedness
Handedness for acquiring objects was assessed monthly from 6 to 14 months in 328 infants (182 males). A group based trajectory model identified 3 latent groups with different developmental trajectories: those with an identifiable right preference (38%) or left preference (14%) and those without an identifiable preference (48%) but with a significant trend toward right-handedness. Each group exhibited significant quadratic trends: Those with a rig…
Integrating health-related quality of life with sickness leave days for return-to-work assessment in traumatic limb injuries
Aggressive and Prosocial Behavior
We use longitudinal multilevel modeling to test how exposure to community violence and cognitive and behavioral factors contribute to the development of aggressive and prosocial behaviors. Specifically, we examine predictors of self‐, peer‐, and teacher‐reported aggressive and prosocial behavior among 266 urban, African American early adolescents. We examine lagged, within‐person, between‐person, and protective effects across 2 years. In general,…

A Rasch Analysis of a Self-perceived Change in Quality of Life Scale in Patients with Mild Stroke
The application of Fourier deconvolution to reaction time data
The Fourier transform method in conjunction with frequency domain smoothing techniques has been suggested as a powerful tool for examining components in a serial, additive reaction time model (P. L. Smith, 1990). Robustness and sensitivity to violations of the assumptions of serial model of this method are evaluated. When an incorrect distribution was used in recovering an unobserved component, results gave no information to show that an incorrec…
Social Exchange Theory
This study manipulated the context or background story accompanying a Wason Selection Task. The content of the story and the instructions were the same in the control and two experimental conditions. The control group was given a standard version of the Wason Selection Task. In the first experimental group, context was altered to include a “catch-cheaters” frame as outlined in social exchange theory. In the second experimental group, the “vividne…
