  • Exploring crosslinguistic and genre variation in syntactic complexity

Open Access•Olga Nádvorníková, Jiří Milička et al.•ARTICLE•Linguistics Vanguard•2026

Syntactic complexity varies not only between languages but also across textual genres, reflecting structural, stylistic, and communicative factors. This study explores the interplay of these two dimensions by analyzing six syntactic complexity metrics (SCMs) across 17 languages and four genres in a large multilingual corpus. We examine how SCMs correlate across languages and genres and assess which metrics best predict language versus genre. Corr…

  • Analiza korpusowa czeskiego czasownika postrádat i jego polskich ekwiwalentów

    Open Access•Elżbieta Kaczmarska, Alexandr Rosen•ARTICLE•Prace Filologiczne•2020

Druga część analizy, wykorzystująca polskie oryginały i…

  • The case of InterCorp, a multilingual parallel corpus

František Čermák, Alexandr Rosen•ARTICLE•International Journal of Corpus…•2012•Cited by: 2•References: 2

This paper introduces InterCorp, a parallel corpus including texts in Czech and 27 other languages, available for online searches via a web interface. After discussing some issues and merits of a multilingual resource we argue that it has an important role especially for languages with fewer native speakers, supporting both comparative research and studies of the language from the perspective of other languages. We proceed with an overview of the…

  • Machine Translation Research in Czechoslovakia

Open Access•Jan Hajič, Eva Hajičová et al.•ARTICLE•Meta Journal des traducteurs•2002

Machine translation research activities in Czechoslovakia starting in early the 60's are outlined, together with the basics of the theoretical background on which the parsing and representation levels have been based. Two more recent systems are described in more detail: APAC, working from English to Czech on INSPEC technical abstracts, and RUSLAN, which, translating from CZECH to Russian, was heavily taking advantage of the closeness between the…
