  • Chronology of the Palmer Deep site, Antarctic Peninsula

    Open Access•Eugene W Domack, E Domack et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2001•Cited by: 6•References: 3

Palmer Deep sediment cores are used to produce the first high-resolution, continuous late Pleistocene to Holocene time-series from the Antarctic marine system. The sedimentary record is dated using accelerator mass spectrometer radiocarbon methods on acid insoluble organic matter and foraminiferal calcite. Fifty-four radiocarbon analyses are utilized in the dating which provides a calibrated timescale back to 13 ka BP. Reliability of resultant ag…

  • SPECtra

    Open Access•F J Taylor, F Taylor et al.•ARTICLE•IEEE Transactions on Education•1996

SPECtra is a technology-based comprehensive engineering educational delivery system for the study of digital processing (DSP). SPECtra introduces a number of DSP education innovations into the classroom, including a commitment to cooperative learning and a reliance on personal computer-based instructional (CBI) tools and technologies. This paper develops the SPECtra philosophy and methodology and then demonstrates its impact on two new graduate a…

  • Machine Learning of Correlation

    Open Access•F Taylor, Fred J Taylor•ARTICLE•IEEE Transactions on Education•1973

A simple, inexpensive, special-purpose digital computer was built to exemplify the obvious as well as the subtle properties of correlation. The method augmented the usual mathematical introduction of this material. Using such common peripheral equipment as a function generator with V.C.O. capabilities, analog noise generator and oscilloscope, such concepts as auto-and-cross-correlation, stochastic filtering, and signal detection can be dynamicall…
