Around 8.7 million children in the USA live with a parent who misuses alcohol, and between 780,000 and 1.3 million children in the UK live in families affected by alcohol misuse. Our preliminary search indicated that no existing global statistics are available on children living with parental alcohol misuse, wh…
Experiences and constructions of womanhood and motherhood among Spanish Roma women
Roma women face multiple inequalities at the intersections of ethnicity, gender, and class. Framed by Romani feminism, studies have explored Roma women’s own perspectives and experiences, drawing attention to the diversity within this group and the specificities of their social position due to the complex forms of discrimination they face. Drawing on interviews with Spanish Roma women, this article contributes to and extends this strand of resear…
Maternity care through the eyes of Southern European immigrant parents in Norway
To explore Southern European immigrant mothers and fathers’ experiences of reproductive health services in Norway, and their perceptions of health providers’ beliefs and attitudes regarding pregnancy and childbirth. The evolvement of trust in response to the Covid-19 pandemic among migrants in Norway
Pandemics create more vulnerability but also opportunities for trust-building. Trust-building can be fostered through relationships in the host country that provide the foundation for migrants to feel included. Healthcare providers are in a position from which they can nurture trust as they can build relationships with migrants over time

The current scoping review summarizes quantitative research that examines parental satisfaction with parent training for families with child conduct problems. We aimed to know how much research had been undertaken; what measures h…

However, this type of violence is relatively common in the country, where broader structural inequalities, like poverty and the system of male dominance, increase women’s vulnerability to IPV.Objective: This study aimed to explore the strategies that Vietnamese IPV survivors take to cope with…
When your source of livelihood also becomes the source of your discomfort
We know from past research that social workers within the CWS are exposed to an array of workplace risks more than any other group within human services. Although several articles tend to focus on the reasons child welfare workers (CWW) leave/stay on their job, we know very little regarding how these workers juggle their roles between the home and the work domain. The present study explored CWW’s perception on how they combine the challenges at w…
Legislation on violence against women
This study aimed to determine if legislation on violence against women (VAW) worldwide contains key components recommended by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the United Nations (UN) to help strengthen VAW prevention and provide better integrated victim protection, support, and care. A systematic search for VAW legislation using international legal databases and other electronic sources plus data from previous research identified 1…
Mapping violence against women laws in the world
The outer hair cells in the mammalian cochlea are cellular actuators essential for sensitive hearing. The geometry and stiffness of the structural scaffold surrounding the outer hair cells will determine how the active cells shape mammalian hearing by modulating the organ of Corti (OoC) vibrations. Specifically, the tectorial membrane and the Deiters cell are mechanically in series with the outer hair cell’s hair bundle and soma, respectively. Th…
