Church‐based education
The goals of this education outreach demonstration study were to prepare a cadre of registered nurses (RN) as Church Health Educators (CHE), and to test the efficacy of a hypertension (HBP) education and support program in African American (AA) churches for persons with HBP in managing blood pressure (BP). In this two-phase study, RNs were prepared as CHEs in phase 1 and a convenience sample of 97 subjects with HBP was taught by the CHEs in phase…
Reliability and Construct Validity of the Learning Style Questionnaire
The Learning Style Questionnaire is a new instrument designed to assess individual learning styles within an experiential learning model. The instrument contains 40 items in a semantic differential format using a 5-point response mode. Least squares factor analysis was employed to examine the construct validity of the instrument; alpha coefficients were used to determine scale reliabilities. Results of the study of 543 university undergraduates s…
Reliability and Construct Validity of Alternate Forms of the Learning Style Inventory
Learning style assessment provides a framework within which individual differences for specific ways of learning can be described. Kolb's Learning Style Inventory has been used to assess learners' preferences for specific phases of an experiential learning cycle. This study was designed to determine the reliability and construct validity of an alternate form of the Learning Style Inventory using a semantic differential format. Results of this stu…
