  • Conceptual subordination in the oral retelling of Spanish-speaking children

Open Access•Carola Alvarado, Nina Crespo et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Communication•2024

Although retelling as a technique to assess narration has been widely used, the input modality seems to impact in different ways on the elicited text, generating a debate about the biases that may appear. To contribute to this discussion, the objective of this study is to describe the development of conceptual subordination and its forms of coding in the oral stories of Spanish-speaking children as well as its relationship with the source text. T…

This note aims to consider the grammatical treatment that psychological verbs have received, providing an analytical reflection on some problems motivated by the different approaches. First, we will look into the definition of this class of verbs. Then we will briefly address the most relevant analyses, focusing on those that deal especially with their grammatical behaviour. Finally, we will develop a proposal that may shed light on certain probl…

  • Cuando Las Palabras Del Otro Se Hacen Mías

Open Access•Nina Crespo Allende, María Luisa Silva•ARTICLE•Linguistica•2019

The way children use reported speech and thoughts (RS) in narratives has become a topic of growing interest in child language studies. Nonetheless, systematic descriptions of these usages in Spanish speaking children with language disorders can not be found. To fill this gap, we have analyzed how 7 years old children, 25 Typical Development (TD) children and 25 children diagnosed with Developmental Language Delay (DLD), use reported speech and th…

Celia Renata Rosemberg, María Luisa Silva•ARTICLE•Discourse Processes•2009•References: 36

This article analyzes the interaction between teachers and children in kindergarten classrooms in order to identify and describe the discursive strategies of teachers that retrieve children's previous expressions to clarify and specify concepts represented in them. Data analyzed include 90 situations of teacher–children exchanges in 7 kindergarten classrooms located in marginal urban neighborhoods in the outskirts of the city of Buenos Aires, Arg…
