A General Prediction Model for Organic Matter at Different Soil Depths in the Urumqi River Basin
Soil organic matter (SOM) constitutes a critical component of terrestrial carbon pools, yet accurate quantification across soil depths remains challenging in arid basins. While hyperspectral techniques enable efficient SOM prediction, current models are limited by: (1) predominant focus on topsoil or single land‐use types; (2) spectral interference from multifactorial coupling effects; (3) insufficient generalization across heterogeneous environm…
Gesture-speech construction from a Cognitive Grammar perspective: The case of the sweeping away gesture
This study examines the polysemy of the sweeping away gesture and its integration with speech using a Cognitive Grammar framework. While previous research has documented the embodied origins and multiple senses of this kind of gesture, two gaps remain: a unified model of its cognitive mechanisms and a detailed Cognitive Grammar analysis of its symbolic integration patterns. Analyzing instances from debates, we identify three multimodal constructi…
The impact of energy poverty on subjective well-being: Evidence from China
Energy poverty (EPOV) is a critical issue for many countries, and is regarded as having an impact on subjective well-being (SWB). Using data from 2014–2020 China Family Panel Studies, this study examines the impact of EPOV on SWB from two dimensions: present-based and future-based. Our results indicate that the incidence of EPOV at the family level in China ranges from 20.2% to 23.6% across six different measures. The empirical findings show that…

Spatiotemporal Patterns of Greening and Their Correlation with Surface Radiative Forcing on the Tibetan Plateau from 1982 to 2021
Vegetation change profoundly influences ecosystem sustainability and human activities, with solar radiation serving as a primary driver. However, the effects of surface radiative forcing (SRF) and related factors on vegetation dynamics remain poorly understood. The Tibetan Plateau, a climate-sensitive region, offers a unique context to investigate these relationships. This study analyzes the association between vegetation greening and SRF on the …
Exploring public opinion on health effects of prepared dishes in China through social media comments
Introduction: In the 2020s, particularly following 2022, the Chinese government introduced a series of initiatives to foster the development of the prepared dishes sector, accompanied by substantial investments from industrial capital. Consequently, China's prepared dishes industry has experienced rapid growth. Nevertheless, this swift expansion has elicited varied public opinions, particularly concerning the potential health effects of prepared …
Impacts of Land‐Use Change on Past and Future Carbon Stocks in the Tianshan North Slope Economic Belt
To study the connection between land use and regional ecological carbon stocks, predicting the future evolution of land use and understanding the trends of changes in carbon stocks are essential to environmental protection and sustainable development. However, the changes in carbon stocks within ecosystems driven by land‐use and land‐cover change (LUCC) are characterized by large uncertainties. This study took the Tianshan North Slope Economic Be…

Estimating Soil Salinity with Different Levels of Vegetation Cover by Using Hyperspectral and Non-Negative Matrix Factorization Algorithm
Hyperspectral technology has proven to be an effective method for monitoring soil salt content (SSC). However, hyperspectral estimation capabilities are limited when the soil surface is partially vegetated. This work aimed to (1) quantify the influences of different fraction vegetation coverage (FVC) on SSC estimation by hyperspectra and (2) explore the potential for a non-negative matrix factorization algorithm (NMF) to reduce the influence of v…
Value creation for online collaboration between doctors and medical institutions: Empirical evidence from online health communities
Purpose Doctor–medical institution collaboration (DMIC) services are an emerging service mode in focal online health communities (OHCs). This new service mode is anticipated to affect user satisfaction and doctors' engagement behaviors. However, whether and how DMIC occurs is still ambiguous because the topic is rarely examined. To bridge this gap, this study explores doctors' participation in DMIC services and its effects on their online perform…
Will Using Social Media Benefit or Harm Users' Self-Esteem? It Depends on Perceived Relational-Closeness
Prior research concerning social media use and self-esteem showed inconsistent findings. In the current research, two studies were conducted to examine the moderating role of perceived relational-closeness between social media use and self-esteem, and the underlying mediating mechanisms. In Study 1 (a quasi-experimental study), by assigning participants to the weak (reporting TikTok use intensity) or strong (reporting WeChat use intensity) relati…
Impact of energy poverty on cognitive and mental health among middle-aged and older adults in China
Energy poverty (EPOV) is considered to have a significant impact on health and has become an essential issue on the policy agenda in most countries, especially those with rapid aging. Cognitive and mental health (CMH) for aging well is just as important a component as physical health, but the literature on the effect of EPOV on CMH is still rare. Using 2014–2018 China Family Panel Studies (CFPS), this study explores EPOV and its impacts on CMH am…

An evolutionary game-theoretic analysis of construction workers' unsafe behavior: Considering incentive and risk loss
The behavior of construction workers has a significant impact on the overall safety climate of a project. The purpose of this paper is to figure out the evolutionary pattern of workers' unsafe behavior and to minimize its occurrence. We constructed a two-sided evolutionary game model consisting of workers and managers to explore the focal point of interest, strategy equilibrium conditions, and behavior evolution process. The experimental results …
Urban Heat Island Intensity Changes in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area of China Revealed by Downscaling Modis LST with Deep Learning
The urban heat island (UHI) effect caused by urbanization negatively impacts the ecological environment and human health. It is crucial for urban planning and social development to monitor the urban heat island effect and study its mechanism. Due to spatial and temporal resolution limitations, existing land surface temperature (LST) data obtained from remote sensing data is challenging to meet the long-term fine-scale surface temperature mapping …
Study on Safety Coefficient of Sedimentary Bauxite Strip Pillar under Valley Terrain
The underground sedimentary bauxite ore body in Shanxi province has a shallow burial depth; the valley terrain caused stress concentration on a pillar which affected the pillar’s safety and goaf stability. This paper proposed a pillar safety coefficient calculation method affected by the goaf structural parameters and the valley terrain, which was based on a pillar mechanics analysis under the valley terrain. The results show that the overlying v…
