From Survival to Resilience
New rural hotels in China face a critical challenge, with an annual failure rate of 42%. This high rate is attributed to their “Newness Weakness (NW),” characterized by a lack of legitimacy, fragmented resources, and poor adaptability. Drawing on data from 67 Chinese rural hotels under 5 years old, this study investigates how Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) drives performance within this constrained context. The results confirm a significant pos…
Integrated network pharmacology and experimental validation reveal EGFR/p53/Bcl-2–mediated anti-hepatocellular carcinoma effects of Zedoary Turmeric Oil
Through an integrated approach combining network pharmacology and experimental validation, this study demonstrates that ZTO exerts anti-HCC effects by inhibiting cell proliferation and migration, inducing apoptosis, and causing G1-phase cell cycle arrest, primarily through modulation of the EGFR/p53/Bcl-2 signaling axis. In addition, ZTO significantly suppresses cancer stemness in HCC by downregulating key stemness-related markers. Finally, the p…
Preschoolers' selective trust in moral promises

Hemoglobin level is negatively associated with sarcopenia and its components in Chinese aged 60 and above
Introduction: Sarcopenia and low hemoglobin level are common in older adults. Few studies have evaluated the association between hemoglobin level and sarcopenia and with inconsistent findings. The multifaceted effects of sarcopenia on the human body and the high prevalence of anemia in the Chinese population make it necessary to explore the association between the two. Methods: Using the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), we…
Influence of Career-Related Parental Support on Adolescents’ Career Maturity
Based on the career resources model (Hirschi, 2012), the current study examined the mechanism underlying the relationship between career-related parental support and adolescents’ career maturity by investigating the mediating role of future time perspective. In addition, the moderating role of core self-evaluation in the relationship between career-related parental support and future time perspective was explored. A two-wave survey was conducted …
Promote or Inhibit
This paper aimed to identify the relationship between the pressure to reach economic growth targets and residents' health by applying a panel fixed effects model, a Sobel-Goodman mediation effects test and a regulatory effects model to the inland provinces of China. The empirical results verify that the pressure to reach economic growth targets in these regions reduces the level of residents' health. Moreover, the effect in developing regions is …
The Impact of Digital Economy on Residents' Health
This paper uses panel data from inland provinces of China to perform a fixed effect regression and finds that the development of the digital economy has a significant promotional effect on the health of residents. Then, the population ageing rate is further used as a threshold variable for a threshold regression, and the relationship between the development of the digital economy and the health of residents from the perspective of ageing is discu…
Falling Into the Second-Generation Decline? Evidence From the Intergenerational Differences in Social Identity of Rural–Urban Migrants in China
Previous studies have not adequately articulated the intergenerational differences in social identity of rural–urban migrants in China. Using survey data from Wuhan, China, the study tests three hypotheses on intergenerational differences in rural–urban migrants’ social identity based on first-generation and new-generation migrants’ attitudes toward rural and urban society. Results suggest that first-generation migrants are more likely to view th…
Uncertainties in emissions estimates of greenhouse gases and air pollutants in India and their impacts on regional air quality
Greenhouse gas and air pollutant precursor emissions have been increasing rapidly in India. Large uncertainties exist in emissions inventories and quantification of their uncertainties is essential for better understanding of the linkages among emissions and air quality, climate, and health. We use Monte Carlo methods to assess the uncertainties of the existing carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx…
