The article examines the life of Radja Hakim Abinari Tampoebolon (1914–1987), a Dutch-educated Batak from a pro-Dutch administrative family who leveraged alleged princely status and cosmopolitan ties to move between colonial authorities, German Occupation structures, and postwar Dutch private intelligence. In June 1907, the last Singamangaraja1 of the Batak was killed in a skirmish with Dutch colonial forces. Reports at the time noted that the loot seized by the Dutch included various 'valuables'.
