Hui Ding, Mark Duggan et al.•ARTICLE•The Review of Economics and…•2025

We study Medicare’s competitive bidding program for durable medical equipment. We use Medicare claims data to examine the effect on prices and utilization, focusing on continuous positive airway pressure devices for sleep apnea. We find that spending falls by 47.2% after a highly imperfect bidding mechanism is introduced. This is almost entirely driven by a 44.8% price reduction, though quantities also fall by 4.3%. To disentangle supply and dema…

  • Comparative evaluation of QuantiFeron-TB gold in-tube plus for Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection among adolescents in China

Open Access•Peng Lü, Leonardo Martínez et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2025

The QFT-GIT and QFT-Plus assays exhibited a high level of agreement but demonstrated a moderate correlation. IFN-γ levels measured by both QFT-GIT and QFT-Plus were comparable. Notably, Our study suggests QFT-Plus may detect a higher rate of Mtb infection among high school freshmen compared to QFT-GIT, EC skin test, and TST, though this requires cautious interpretation due to the absence of a gold standard for Mtb infection diagnosis

A large amount of secondary successional vegetation (subtropical evergreen broadleaved forests) has formed after the extensive deforestation and cultivation of coniferous forests in Wuyi Mountain, Southeast China. However, we lack a detailed understanding of the dynamic changes in microbial community structure and its co‐occurrence network during succession. The features that are responsible for alterations in the soil bacterial community remain …
