An Analysis of the Relationships Between Teacher Efficacy, Teacher Self-Esteem and Orientations to Seeking Help
The relationships between teacher efficacy, teacher self-esteem and orientation to seeking help were investigated in this study. The Structure of Empathy in Japanese Adolescents: Construction and Examination of an Empathy Scale
In this study, a “Revised Empathy Scale” was constructed by using an empathy scale from the previous study (Hashimoto & Shiomi, 2000). A questionnaire consisting of 30 items on empathy and the Shimoda Personality Inventory (SPI) were administered to a total of 870 subjects (466 university and 404 high school students). Through factor analyses, four factors were extracted for the empathy scale. The four factors were named the “Cannot feel others' …
The Effect of Hesitancy Toward and the Motivation for Self-Disclosure on Loneliness Among Japanese Junior High School Students
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the factors of hesitancy toward and the motivation for self-disclosure on loneliness. Five scales about self-disclosure and loneliness were administered to 235 junior high school students. This study examined the postulated model: hesitancy toward and motivation for self-disclosure → self-disclosure → loneliness. Findings suggest that Release of One's Feelings strongly promotes self-disclosur…
Developing a Shyness Scale for Japanese Junior High School Students

Cross-Cultural Response Styles on the Kirton Adaption-Innovation Inventory
The Kirton Adaption-Innovation Inventory (KAI) has been a widely-used measure including use in cross-cultural and cross-national studies over the past 20 years. However, researchers have generally neglected the issue of cross-cultural response styles and simply accepted differences in KAI scores as indicators of real cross-cultural differences. The present study examined the KAI scores of Canadian and Japanese samples to identify any cross-nation…

Extreme Samples on the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire Psychoticism Scale
The P scale of the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire was examined in three samples of normals which obtained either very high or very low means on the P scale. Psychometric problems such as low internal consistency and items with no variance were identified in the sample with a low P mean. Although more desirable psychometric properties were identified in the two samples with high P means, it was undesirable to label such samples of normals as be…
Differences in Reaction Times of Extraverts and Introverts to Rapaport's Word Association Test
For 40 Japanese undergraduates reaction times to the Rapa-port Word Association Test were recorded.
