Dynamic Floating Stations Model for Emergency Medical Services with a Consideration of Traffic Data
To equally distribute the workload and minimize the travel distance for fire departments, we developed a new dynamic floating stations model (DFSM) to target traffic-related emergency medical services (EMS) during peak hours. This study revealed that traffic-related EMS incidents have different characteristics to other EMS incidents. The number of floating stations was determined by the number of available ambulances at a given time. The optimum …
Agents, Ontology‐Based Decision‐Support Systems
Over one billion people have access to the Internet and millions of sensors are connected to the Internet currently. The Internet is flooded by mass volumes of data; however, decision‐makers are hungry for information and knowledge to help them make the correct decision. This is the real situation faced by today's knowledge workers. To solve this problem, information technology needs to be fully utilized by integrating databases in various govern…
Monitoring Street-Level Spatial-Temporal Variations of Carbon Monoxide in Urban Settings Using a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) Framework
Air pollution has become a severe environmental problem due to urbanization and heavy traffic. Monitoring street-level air quality is an important issue, but most official monitoring stations are installed to monitor large-scale air quality conditions, and their limited spatial resolution cannot reflect the detailed variations in air quality that may be induced by traffic jams. By deploying wireless sensors on crossroads and main roads, this stud…
