  • The Role of Craft in Special Education

Open Access•Danae Kaplanidi, Athina Sismanidou et al.•ARTICLE•Heritage•2025•References: 1

This study explores the potential of craft-based activities in the context of special education, focusing on a papier mâché sculpting workshop implemented at the Special Kindergarten of Komotini, Greece, as part of the Horizon Europe Craeft project. The initiative aimed to assess how such creative activities could enhance the learning experience of children with intellectual and motor impairments, foster socialization, and develop fine motor skil…

  • Breaking barriers

Open Access•Athina Sismanidou, Joan Tarradellas et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Transport Geography•2024•References: 3

This study is a response to the current long-term policy effort aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions from aviation. It explores the short-term feasibility of servicing medium and long-haul commercial air routes with fully electric, zero-emission aircraft. The focus on long-haul flights reflects our understanding of the high levels of emissions associated with these routes. The analysis applies technical details of current electric aircraft …

  • The uneven geography of US air traffic delays

Open Access•Athina Sismanidou, Joan Tarradellas et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Transport Geography•2021•Cited by: 1•References: 2

Sustained airport congestion periods translate into delays, especially in hub-and-spoke networks in which delay propagation is more evident. We examine the impact of connecting passenger arrival delays on network delay propagation by using passenger level data combined with flight delay data that allow us to analyse the correlation between delayed incoming flights and departure delays at the 21 U.S. airports with most delays, in July 2018. Result…
