  • Lacking the ‘personal touch’

    Open Access•Sarah E Rose, Louise Bunce et al.•ARTICLE•Assessment & Evaluation in Higher…•2026

Despite the potential usefulness of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) for providing assessment feedback, little is known about students’ understanding and perceptions of it. Addressing this gap is important to ensure that GenAI-assisted feedback is pedagogically effective, because its value depends on whether students perceive it as credible and worth acting on. Twenty-five students (14 female, mean age = 26.41 years) studying a range of…

Objectives: This study was designed to examine future willingness to co-receive COVID-19 and influenza vaccines and factors associated with that willingness among outpatients with acute respiratory illness (ARI). Methods: Outpatients ≥15 years with respiratory symptoms for ≤10 days were surveyed about vaccination behaviors and intentions. We used multinomial logistic regression to assess associations between demographic, behavioral and health-rel…

  • Older adults and “scams”

Open Access•Jan Bailey, Louise Taylor et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Adult Protection•2021•Cited by: 2•References: 3

Purpose The issue of financial abuse is highlighted in the Care Act (2014). One category of financial abuse is consumer fraud or “scams.” Evidence suggests that scams are becoming increasingly ubiquitous, yet how scams impact older adults remains under-researched. The purpose of this paper is to report data from 80 older adults’ written responses to a Mass Observation Archive Directive, commissioned in autumn 2015, which focused on scams. Design/…

  • Risk factors for human disease emergence

Open Access•Louise Taylor, Louise H Taylor et al.•ARTICLE•Philosophical Transactions of the…•2001

A comprehensive literature review identifies 1415 species of infectious organism known to be pathogenic to humans, including 217 viruses and prions, 538 bacteria and rickettsia, 307 fungi, 66 protozoa and 287 helminths. Out of these, 868 (61%) are zoonotic, that is, they can be transmitted between humans and animals, and 175 pathogenic species are associated with diseases considered to be ‘emerging’. We test the hypothesis that zoonotic pathogens…
