Potential of smartwatch touchscreen glass for electron paramagnetic resonance dosimetry in radiological emergencies
Introduction: In radiological emergencies, retrospective dosimetry is essential for estimating absorbed radiation doses when conventional dosimetric data are unavailable. Various human-derived tissues and surrounding materials have been used for dose assessment using electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) techniques. However, because the retrospective dosimetric materials have inherent limitations, dose assessment should reasonably be determined t…
Neonatal Abusive Head Trauma without External Injuries
The term "shaken baby syndrome" has been replaced by "abusive head trauma (AHT)" based on the mechanism of injury. The reported mortality rate of AHT ranges from 10% to 30%. Up to two-thirds of survivors suffer from serious long-term disabilities. Thus, an expeditious and accurate diagnosis is crucial to prevent further abuse that might result in death or serious disabilities. It remains a challenge for physicians to diagnose AHT when parents do …
Effective Treatments of Late-Life Depression in Long-Term Care Facilities
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify effective treatment to manage the depression of older residents. Methods: Using Klein and Bloom’s criteria, we analyzed the number of subjects, designs and methodologies, residential types, intervention types and duration of treatment, standardized measures, and findings. Data searches were conducted to classify empirical studies and to review empirical literature published from 2007 to 2014. A s…
