As intercultural perspectives assume a greater emphasis in higher education internationalization, “interculturalization” is gaining prominence. This study builds on a critical incident study where cultural identity experiences related to race, ethnicity, and national origin as well as experiences of ability, education, sexuality, socioeconomic status/class, gender and spiritualty/religion were documented in the globally diverse classroom. This study measures employability following domestic and international internships using a game based analytics tool to predict behaviors associated with employability skills. Exploratory Factor Analysis examined the underlying relationship between 33 behavioral descriptors, which measure skills such as diligence, leadership, learning agility, social intelligence, and logical reasoning. Priming the self as an agent influences causal, spatial, and temporal events

In three experiments we created a novel sentence unscrambling task that was used to prime the self-as-agent (i.e., sentences that contain the pronoun “I”), the self-as-patient (i.e., sentences that contain the pronoun “me”), or no prime (i.e., sentences th…

With a sample of middle school children aged 12-14 years (n = 119; 53% males), this research evaluates whether cognitively oriented expressive writing (CEW), which focuses more on psychological self-distancing, improves personal well-being better than traditional EW, which focu…
Monolithic Western Mind? Effect of Fear of Isolation on Context Sensitivity in us Americans, Italians and Chinese
Culture influences what we attend to, encode, remember and think about. Easterners are said to attend more to the relationship between focal objects and their context while Westerners disentangle focal objects from their context. Simply put, Easterners process information holistically and Westerners analytically. Psychosocial factors, like Fear of Isolation, have been proposed as a possible mechanism for cultural differences in terms of informati…
