Understanding K-12 teachers’ prioritized decision-making about instructional design and technology integration
This exploratory study aimed to understand K-12 teachers’ instructional design decision-making for technology integration. This study utilized Q methodology, a mixed methods research design, to examine fourteen (14) in-service K-12 teachers’ subjectivity and prioritized decision-making through a Q sort activity focusing on technology integration. The findings indicated three profiles of teachers: (1) critical thinkers, (2) practical users, and (3…
Negotiating social justice issues in research and practice in the field of learning, design, and technology
This article presents the results of a multiple case study that explored the ways learning, design, and technology (LDT) scholars negotiate issues of social justice in their practice and research. Using Stake’s (2009) multiple case study, we examined the design practices of 4 scholars, looking across contexts to understand participants’ design practices, as well as the connections between those practices, their perspectives, and the local context…

Moderator effects of mobile users' pedagogical role on science learning
The advancement of technologies has promoted the increasing popularity and integration of mobile technologies in science education in the past decade. These trends have led to an increased interest among scholars to understand the effects of mobile technologies in science education and whether those effects differ depending on how mobile technologies are used in learning and teaching (eg, student‐led, teacher‐led, collaborative). In this study, w…

Digital, Experiential, and Embodied
Digital Humanities in the U.S. has often focused on digital design over how humanities content might be used. Our Georgia Virtual History Project was built from the opposite direction. Rather than simply creating digitized humanities, we are dedicated to exploring the ways in which the digital world can help us construct more robust, place-based scholarship that impacts the lives of those who make and use it. We want our work to exist both online…

Exploring college students’ online help-seeking behavior in a flipped classroom with a web-based help-seeking tool
Today’s generation often seeks help from each other in online environments; however, only a few have investigated the role of Internet technologies and the nature of online help-seeking behaviour in collaborative learning environments. This paper presents an educational design research project that examines college students’ online help-seeking behaviour. The context was a large-enrollment science course that implemented a form of blended instruc…
