    This article examines the experiences of 20 students of color who voluntarily attend a racially integrated school. The study draws from the Socio-Cultural dimension of schooling as a framework to understand how the students of color fared on a social, cultural, and environmental level within a predominantly White school.     This article reviews the historical emergence and basic tenets of logical positivism, and demonstrates that a number of these positivistic tenets still exert a deeply hidden and deleterious influence on developmental psychology.   • The Yao Jua Relationship: Patterns of Affinal Alliance and Residence among the Hmong of Northern Thailand

    Hmong kinship terminology includes many affinal relationships which denote links between otherwise discrete exogamous patriclans. I suggest that the most significant of these relationships is the yao jua alliance formed between a man and his wife's father. This paper sets out the boundaries of the relationship and suggests that the yao jua is a key factor in an explanation of the particular response of the Hmong to a situation of resource scarcit…
