The Saint-Simonians in Industry and Economic Development
The connection between the ideas of the Saint-Simonians and the spectacular growth and development of investment banking in mid-19th century Europe is documented. Some of the economic ideas of the Saint-Simonians are outlined, and it is shown that they looked forward to a worldwide economic association managed by a mammoth bank.
