Narrow Walk, Condition II, Semi-Tandem, Tandem, and Single Leg Stance Test Failure Could Predict Falls in Older Adults
Current fall prevention guidelines are largely reactive to a history of falls and are thus an ineffective approach to primary fall prevention. This work aims to identify objective measures that predict fall risk to facilitate broader implementation in primary care settings. Longitudinal data were available from 952 men (48%) and women aged 60 to 97 enrolled in the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging who had an index and subsequent visit approxi…
Tracking the burden, distribution, and impact of Post-Covid conditions in diverse populations for children, adolescents, and adults (Track PCC): Passive and active surveillance protocols
These data can help identify which groups are most affected by PCC, and what health differences among demographic groups exist, as well as indicate potential barriers to care. These additional levels of granularity can inform public health action and help direct needed clinical care for patients
Environmental Lead Exposure and Influenza and Respiratory Syncytial Virus Diagnoses in Young Children: A Test-Negative Case-Control Study
Experimental and epidemiological evidence suggests that environmental toxicants may influence susceptibility to influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The objective of the present study was to estimate the association between blood lead concentrations and the odds of child influenza or RSV infection. A test-negative, case-control study was conducted among 617 children, <4 years of age, tested for influenza/RSV from 2012-2017 in Rocheste…
