  • Exploring Factors Affecting Psychological Flexibility After Psychedelic Experiences

Bruno Roméo, E Kervadec et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Psychoactive Drugs•2025

Neurobiological effects and psychological models propose that psychedelics may promote psychological flexibility, suggesting a transdiagnostic effect by disrupting maladaptive patterns. The objective of this study was therefore to investigate the determinants of psychological flexibility change following a psychedelic use. This retrospective online survey included French individuals who had undergone a significant psychedelic experience. Particip…

  • Significant Psychedelic Experiences Evaluated for Mystical Characteristics Associated with Cannabis Use Reduction and Psychological Flexibility Improvement

Bruno Roméo, E Kervadec et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Psychoactive Drugs•2024

Treating cannabis use disorder remains a significant challenge in the field of addiction medicine. Some recent studies point to psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy as a potential treatment option for substance use disorders. The objective of this study was therefore to explore the impact of naturalistic psychedelic experiences on cannabis use and psychological flexibility. An online retrospective survey was carried out on 152 cannabis users who al…

  • Caudate gray matter volumes and risk of relapse in Type A alcohol-dependent patients

Open Access•Catherine Martelli, Eric Artiges et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2023

Overall, the present investigation revealed larger caudate nuclei in the relapser AUD patient group both at baseline and at follow-up in the cross-sectional analyses. This finding suggest that a higher caudate volume could be a candidate risk factor of relapse. In patients with specific type A alcohol-dependence, we showed that long-term recovery in fronto-striato-limbic GM and WM volumes occurs during long-term abstinence. These results support …

  • Impact of a Naturalistic Psychedelic Experience on Smoking

Bruno Roméo, Baptiste Fauvel et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Psychoactive Drugs•2023

Tobacco use disorder is a major public health concern. The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of a psychedelic experience in a natural context on tobacco use. A retrospective online survey was conducted on 173 individuals who reported having had a psychedelic experience while being smokers. Demographic information was collected, and characteristics of the psychedelic experience, tobacco addiction and psychological flexibility were as…

  • Neuropsychological Impairment in Detoxified Alcohol-Dependent Subjects with Preserved Psychosocial Functioning

Open Access•Catherine Martelli, Amélie Petillion et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2017

Our sample of socially and professionally integrated alcoholic patients shows fewer cognitive deficits than described in previous studies. Our results suggest that early on, alcohol-dependent subjects develop compensatory adaptation processes to preserve social function and adaptation. Minor cognitive impairments should be screened early in the disease to integrate cognitive interventions into the health-care plan to thus eventually prevent furth…
