The association between family health and frailty in preoperative patients with gastric cancers
Introduction Frailty is prevalent among preoperative gastric cancer (GC) patients and significantly affects surgical risk and long-term recovery. Family health may hold substantial potential for mitigating frailty, although the mechanisms underlying this effect remain unclear. This study aims to investigate the impact of family health on frailty in preoperative GC patients, and the mediating effects of health literacy and physical activity. Metho…
Subjective evaluation of mental fatigue and characteristics of attention during a driving simulation
Sixteen healthy taxi drivers comprised the sample in this study. A variety of attention and the Subjective Fatigue Symptom Questionnaire (Hideki, Masaya, & Heihachiro, 1999) were recorded before and after their 6-hour driving simulation. For comparison, the drivers' attention and fatigue levels were measured again on their days off. It can be concluded that, under the condition of driving simulation, drivers' attention was damaged by fatigue befo…
Physiological inequalities do not result in psychological inequalities in vision field
It is well known that there are some characteristics of physiological inequality among vision fields. But, based on many studies, this inequality does not lead to psychological inequalities. Our aim was to assess directly the effect of vision field (foveal, parafoveal, peripheral) on irrelevant distractors' rejection of selective attention and to determine whether or not the physiological inequalities of different vision fields bring out psycholo…
Analysis of Demographic Factors on F Scores and Evaluation of New Configurations of F Scales
We analyzed the influence of demographic factors on scores of the Infrequency scale of the MMPI (Archer, Gordon, & Kirchner, 1987) administered to male youth in China. The demographic factors, acting as influencing factors of F scores, could be ignored. New configurations of infrequency scales were presented and discussed, which indicated that it was appropriate to choose a 20% item endorsement percentage (IEP) of the Chinese male youth as the cr…
