When emotion overpowers reflection: Framing effects, emotional intensity, and the deep-immersion paradox in red tourism narratives
This study examines the influence of emotional framing in red tourism narratives on visitors’ perceived authenticity and acceptance of ideological messages, based on a case study of the Huanghuagang 72 Martyrs Cemetery in Guangzhou, China. Employing an experimental design with three emotion-based narrative framings, data were analyzed through partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). Emotion was modelled as a formative constr…
Uncertainty and the Tourism Industry: Nonlinearity, Asymmetries, and Implications
This study investigates the asymmetric effects of pandemic‐induced uncertainty on tourism demand from Western Europe to the United States of America, offering a novel perspective within the framework of business‐cycle theory. Traditional models typically assume a symmetric impact of external shocks, such as pandemics, on tourism demand; however, this study challenges that assumption. According to business‐cycle theory, cyclical fluctuations durin…
Traditional Chinese Medicine in the treatment of chronic atrophic gastritis, precancerous lesions and gastric cancer
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG), precancerous lesions of gastric cancer (PLGC), and gastric cancer (GC), seriously threaten human health. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been employed in the treatment of chronic diseases for a long time and has shown remarkable efficacy. AIM OF THE STUDY: Recently, there has been an increasing use of TCM in treating CAG, PLGC, and GC. The objective of this study is to compi…
Macau hotel industry’s response to global shocks
This study examines the Macau hotel industry’s response to global shocks using vector autoregression analysis. According to the findings, the hotel occupancy rate reacts negatively to a one-standard-deviation shock in global geopolitical risk. However, this reaction decreases after the second period and completely loses its effect after the fourth period. Hotel occupancy rate responds weakly and short term negatively to the shock of global econom…
