The Oxford Handbook of Expertise
The purpose of this Handbook is to provide a comprehensive picture of the field of Expertise Studies. We offer both traditional and contemporary perspectives, and importantly, a multidiscipline-multimethod view of the science and engineering research on expertise. We present different perspectives, theories, and methods of conducting expertise research, all of which have had an impact in helping us better understanding expertise across a broad ra…

The Internal Structure of Basic and Non-Basic Color Categories
Kay & McDaniel 1978 have recently proposed a new method of distinguishing between basic and non-basic color terms, based on fuzzy set theory (Zadeh 1965). In the present paper, we report two empirical studies that test the effectiveness of the fuzzy set method for identifying basic color categories. It is found that the method fails to discriminate between basic and non-basic categories. It is argued on theoretical grounds that the method propose…
Facilitating insight in a reasoning task
Subjects were presented selection task developed by Wason (1966) using a reduced array. majority of subjects demonstrated partial or complete insight into task. Performance level remained high on a transfer selection task using a standard array. results suggest that under appropriate conditions subjects spontaneously demonstrate valid inferential processes with abstract material
