  • Synthesis and pharmacological evaluation of newly detected synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonists AB-4CN-Butica, MMB-4CN-Butinaca, MDMB-4F-Butica, MDMB-4F-Butinaca and their analogs

Open Access•Eric Sparkes, Rochelle Boyd et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2022

Synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonists (SCRAs) continue to make up a significant portion new psychoactive substances (NPS) detected and seized worldwide. Due to their often potent activation of central cannabinoid receptors in vivo , use of SCRAs can result in severe intoxication, in addition to other adverse health effects. Recent detections of AB-4CN-BUTICA, MMB-4CN-BUTINACA, MDMB-4F-BUTICA and MDMB-4F-BUTINACA mark a continuation in the appea…

  • Off-target pharmacological profiling of synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonists including AMB-Fubinaca, Cumyl-Pinaca, PB-22, and XLR-11

    Open Access•Richard C Kevin, Elizabeth A Cairns et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2022

These results suggest that while some "off-targets" could possibly contribute to the SCRA toxidrome, particularly at high concentrations, CB1-mediated cellular dysfunction provides support for hypotheses concerning on-target, rather than off-target, toxicity. Further investigation of non-GPCR off-targets is warranted

  • Access to cannabidiol without a prescription

    Open Access•Iain S McGregor, Elizabeth A Cairns et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Drug…•2020

There are a variety of approaches in how countries manage access to CBD products. Many countries appear to permit OTC and online availability of CBD products but often without legislative clarity. As consumer demand for CBD escalates, improved legislation, guidelines and quality control of CBD products would seem prudent together with clinical trials exploring the therapeutic benefits of lower-dose CBD formulations
