Racial disparities in diabetes care and outcomes for people with visual impairment
This study uncovers pronounced disparities in diabetes prevalence and management among individuals with visual impairments who seek care, particularly among White and African American groups. Furthermore, it is unclear whether multitasking ability affects those who gravitate toward careers that demand it, particularly among medical st…
Designing a Mobile Health Solution to Facilitate the Transition from Nicu to Home
There is limited information about caregiver and provider perspectives regarding the design of a mobile health solution to facilitate the transition from the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) to home. Focus groups were conducted with English- or Spanish-speaking families enrolled in an urban high-risk infant follow-up clinic and with their care providers. We generated salient themes using an inductive thematic analysis. Twenty-two participants …
Clinical, social, and policy factors in Covid-19 cases and deaths
Our findings demonstrate that the set of SDoH features that are significant for COVID-19 outcomes varies based on the time from the start date of the pandemic and when COVID-19 was present in a county. These results could assist researchers with variable selection and inform decision makers when creating public health policy
Development and Performance Assessment of a Digital Serious Game to Assess Multi-Patient Care Skills in a Simulated Pediatric Emergency Department
Objective. Multi-patient care is important among medical trainees in an emergency department (ED). While resident efficiency is a typically measured metric, multi-patient care involves both efficiency and diagnostic / treatment accuracy. Multi-patient care ability is difficult to assess, though simulation is a potential alternative. Our objective was to generate validity evidence for a serious game in assessing multi-patient care skills among a v…
